The UK government is set to introduce a new vaping duty in 2026 — a move that could spell serious trouble for small businesses, vapers, and public health progress. But there's still time to act. A petition has been launched urging the government to halt this damaging new tax and reassess its broader implications. You can view and sign the petition here.

Why the Vaping Duty Matters

The proposed duty, announced in the March 2024 Budget, aims to impose additional costs on nicotine-containing e-liquids, zero nicotine liquids and concentrates. While its stated intent is to curb youth vaping, in reality, it risks punishing adult smokers who have made the switch to vaping

The duty will likely cripple small independent vape shops and manufacturers and consumers themselves.

Impact on Small Businesses

The UK’s independent vaping industry is built on innovation, entrepreneurship, and personal service — not big tobacco. Many vape shop owners and small-scale e-liquid producers are former smokers themselves, passionate about helping others quit.

This duty threatens their livelihoods by increasing costs. For many, this will mean closure.
